Time for a new free book!

Image
We had an outing not too long ago with our son and his family. It was so much fun. Neither my husband or I had seen a field of sunflowers up front and so close! The bright yellow leaves were amazing! They looked just like the sun’s rays. Is there any wonder why people love to look at the sunflowers as they drive down the road? It’s also that time of the year to find a good book to read. Here are a few options for you—the only requirement is for you to sit back and enjoy your book.                 https://books.bookfunnel.com/newtoyoupromo/6uxfhy9bx5                                Here is my latest release: The Broken Circle    Barb's Books   Twitter   Goodreads   BookBub   Amazon Page Please share with your friends, family and Facebook. DANCES

Image
My Pen pal of 55 years who recently passed away. While writing my latest book, THE BROKEN CIRCLE, it brought me back to my childhood and friends. It brought to life all the silly little things that we did as teenagers, my girlfriends and I.  We went to an awful lot of park dances. Longfellow Park was the place where we went. It was wonderful. The building was used as a warming house in the winter for ice skating, which we all did, and also for dances. I don’t recall how the building was arranged, but that doesn’t matter. We had fun. A local band played on either Friday or Saturday night and a number of classmates would go. It was a wonderful way for us young teens to learn to dance. The Beatles plus all of the ‘British Invasion’ bands were top of the list for the local bands to learn their music.  Afterward, sometimes we’d walk the couple of blocks to the White Castle on Lake Street and purchase a burger before going home. Usually it was arranged ahead of t...

The book launch for THE BROKEN CIRCLE was wonderful. Here are a few of the taken pictures. I’m thrilled by the number of people who turned up for it. Soon, I’ll be interviewed on WDIO TV, Duluth, MN. August, 23 at 6 AM. On Saturday, August 24, I’ll be signing my books at Fitgers in Duluth. This is wonderful. I dreamed of being able to sign books at Fitgers for years. It’s a dream come true. Maybe, this is what this blog is about today, making your dream come true. I want to preserve the past. It’s not because it’ll be drifting away and forgotten, it’s because these people need remembrance. The July 4 th celebrations will soon be underway. We also have men and women fighting for our country, today. Whether or not you believe in what the US is doing overseas, is irrelevant. These soldiers sing our praise everyday. Both of my boys were in the military and so was one of my grandsons. My oldest was in the army for four years and stationed in Germany for two and then California. I was grateful for his return to the U.S. Bosnia was the problem at the time of his service and I prayed constantly so that he didn’t have to go there. I did visit him over Christmas in Germany. He was in the field so long and so often that his new wife couldn’t take the separation and they soon divorced. He wanted me to come for the holiday so he wouldn’t be alone. We had steak for Christmas Eve and on Christmas Day, I catered to four lonely soldiers as they ate a stuf...

Pen Friends

Image
Pen Friends I fell in love with my pen pal immediately and it hasn’t ended. Spiritually, it hasn’t. Chris was my best friend for all times. She was always there whenever I needed a friend. Do you have a friend like that? I’m talking 24/7 and not a teddy bear or a doll. When I was approximately 11-12 years old, I read an ad in a magazine for a penfriend. She lived in England! My heart jumped to my throat. A friend in a foreign country? Wow! I brought the magazine to my parents and asked permission to write to this stranger who lived overseas. One of the first things that my dad suggested was to look up her address. I went to the school library and located the Isle of Wight. It was below the mainland, south of Portsmouth. It sounded like a lifelong adventure. Dad was pleased as punch and Mom didn’t really care one way or the other. I’m sure that Mom thought that it would peter out with time and that she wouldn’t have to worry about me ever visiting her and getting los...
