OLD MEMORIES

TREASURED ORNAMENTS

As the holiday season approaches, my memories go to my kids when they

were little boys and to Christmas of long ago when I was a kid.  I know you

can’t live in the past, neither can you forget it.  So what to do?

My grandson asked for ornaments for his apartment, knowing that I have

collected quite a few over the years.  Since I was seeing him soon, I dragged

the seven large tubs from the garage and carried them into the house.

I have glass ornaments from my dad’s side that decorated his family tree.

Should I keep them or give them away?  A manger scene from when I was a

little girl and went to Sunday school.  I’m not ready to part with it.

I also have books that I used to read to my boys and now I read them to my

grandchildren.

I like to read the books every Christmas to myself as I watch favored holiday movies.

I found a few decorations of Santa and some angels that will be enjoyed by

him. I also have a few figurines that he might like and remember from when

he was little as well as the ornament he’d made in school.
